Han-juban (short under kimono) made of hand-spun cotton and dyed with beni-itajime (board-clamped dyeing) with benibana (safflower). Beni-itajime-zome was practiced much in Shonai region in Yamagata Pref. as it was the main product place of benibana in Edo and Meiji period. In good condition but it has some tiny moth holes in right side and light dirty line in the neck. The second half of the 19th century. 61cm x 56cm

A pair of wooden lacquer plates with hand-painted Daruma (Bodhidharma) who is the founder of the Zen, a sect of Buddhism. The gold daruma and the daruma doll are hand-carved. In excellent condition except for a tiny chip (1.5mm) on the rim of one of the plates and a very slight hair line on the surface of the other. Diameter:17cm, H:4cm The first half of the 20th century.
