Ko-Imari (early Imari ware) saba-choko produced in Arita in Saga prefecture in late Edo or Meiji period. Soba-choko was used for food in older days, but it became used also for soba soup in which soba to be dipped later. The ko-imari were exported from Imari port so that it is called Imari ware.
