These are komebukuros ( rice bags ) made of several kinds of silk fragments with katazome ( stencil-dye ), shibori ( tie-dye ) kasuri ( ikat ) and brocade. The linings are hand-woven asa cloth. This is a sakiori sodenashi ( vest ) hand-woven of cotton strips which are recycled from old cloth, such as kimono, furoshiki, futon cover and so on. Warps are asa ( hemp ) threads. It has beautiful mixed color of natural indigo and others. It has indigo cloth with fine sashiko ( quilting ) in the top in the back. This is a sodenashi ( vest ) of sori-hiki ( sledge-hauling ) from Shonai region in Yamagata prefecture in Tohoku district. It has rectangular pieces of cloth with sashiko ( quilting ) attached in one of the shoulders and in front diagonally for strength and ornament.
