Eboshi was a hat which an adult man put on when he wore Japanese formal clothing from the Heian period (Late 8th to Late 12th century) to modern times. It is worn by Shinto priests, or selected people in the ceremonies and festivals. Made of washi (Japanese handmade paper ) and painted with black urushi. The cord is also washi. Asa (hemp) baby's kimono with hand-painted pine tree motif whose wefts as well as warps are hand-plied. It has se-mamori in the back which is a charm with silk threads and this one is boy's kimono as they are in the left as well as in the center (girl's one is in the right). This is a noren which is made of hand-woven cloth, asa ( hemp ) threads for wefts and cotton threads for warps. It has "Genji-guruma" crest and bold tsutsugaki auspicious motifs such as bamboo, pine tree and plum tree blossoms. These motifs are rather common, but the hand-painting is very lively and strong.
