This is a hakama ( pants ) which is hand woven of kudzu fibers for wefts and cotton threads for warps. Kudzu-fu was mostly produced in Kakegawa in Shizuoka prefecture in late Edo. This kudzu-fu hakama was worn in summer. In good condition except for several holes ( 1cm x 1cm ~ 0.5mm x 0.5mm ). Length 82cm. Late Edo or early Meiji period ( mid or late 19th C ).

This is a komebukuro ( rice bag ) which is made of plain silk crepe, silk crepe with katazome ( stencil-dyeing ) and Yuzen zome ( paste-resist ). Komebukuro was used when people exchanged rice as a gift or donated it to a shrine or a temple. It has a beautiful silk cord with tassels. In good condition except for a small moth holes. Cotton Yamato kasuri cloth produced in Yamato region in Nara prefecture. The warps and wefts are machine-spun but the cloth is hand-woven. It used to be the man's kimono, unseamed and washed (toki-mono). Han-juban made of several kinds of silk, such as old Oshima-tsumugi with fine kasuri pattern from Amami-Oshima in Okinawa (old name, Ryukyu) Islands (body part), silk crepe with stripes, indigo dyed pongee silk and figured silk for lining. It has silk crepe collar with embroidery. In excellent condition but Oshima-tsumugi is not so strong for remake as it is mud-dye and iron is used for dye mordant.
