Nobori made of hand-spun cotton which was dedicated to the Suwa Shrine in Nagano Prefecture, which used to be the war god in old days. It has hand-written letters which are "Dedicated by Mr.Kobe or Kanbe in July, Bunka 4th (1807)" The letters are written in the way strong and good. Han-juban (short under kimono) which is made of several kinds of silk crepe, katazome (stencil-dye) and plain. All the pieces are recycled from used kimonos and beautifully remade into the han-juban. The silk crepe pieces are called "Edo chirimen" which are high quality soft silk crepe and dyed with vegetable dyes. Generally in good condition but has some dirt in the removable white collar. The silk lining cloth is dyed with benibana (safflower). The latter half of the 19th century...

Wool muslin was first woven in late 19th century in Japan and it was used for a shawl and juban (under kimono) etc. The wool muslin is in excellent condition but the black silk satin is a bit weak and has some rips. This is a pair of kusari-gote (gauntlet) which are made of urushi coated iron, kusari (mail), plain and katazome asa (hemp) cloth, silk cords, buttons made of animal bone etc. The warps and wefts of the asa cloth are hand-plied. Generally in good condition but has some holes in the asa cloth and urushi came off in the back of the hands as they were actually used. It reads "27" in Kanji letters in the top. This is a han-juban ( short under kimono ) made of hand-spun cotton and has itajime ( board-clamped ) pattern. Itajime shibori had been practiced in Kyoto from late Edo period ( the former half of the 19th century ) to early Showa period ( 1920s ), so it is called Kyo-Itajime.
