Asa (hemp) baby's kimono with kasuri pattern which is made in Omi near Kyoto and called Omi-kasuri. Weft kasuri threads are dyed with board-clamp dye. It has se-mamori in the back which is a charm with stitches and this one is boy's kimono as they are in the left as well as in the center (girl's one is in the right). Evils are believed to come from back in old days and it protects a baby from diseases. Late 19th to early 20th century...

Fireman's hood made of deer skin with check patterns which are dyed with the technique called "fusube-gawa". The deer skin is smoked with burning rice straws and gets brown color. Shima-cho, a sample book of stripes which are cotton and silk (mainly colored threads for warps). It also has some checks and figured cloth in total 413 fragments, mostly for kimono cloth. The book is made of recycled old paper. The stamp in the cover tells it is from the union of sericulturists in Ina in Nagano prefecture. It also tells made in Meiji 30s (1897~1906).
