Two woodblock printed books of gesaku (popular story). Both have beautiful woodblock print covers. Right: "Kyokaku-den" author: Rakutei Saiba (1799~1858) published in Kaei 7 (1855) Kyokaku was a man who had a spirit of chivalry and "weakened the strong and helped the weaks" Left: "Shiranui-monogatari" author: Ryukatei Tanekazu (1807~1858). Published in Ansei 5 (1858) Toyokuni is an painter for woodblock prints for both books and there is a stamp of Kunisada in the left one...

Design sample book of fukusa (gift cover) which is woodblock printed. It has 30 designs, mostly used on happy occasions except for the 5th photo, the lotus flower motif. Generally in good condition. Printed in Meiji 34 (1902) in Kyoto. 18cm x 25cm
