Yamato kasuri man's kimono made of hand-spun cotton for wefts and machine-spun cotton for warps. Yamato kasuri was woven since mid 18th century in Yamato region (Nara Pref.) Cotton kimono, white or indigo ground, with small kasuri pattern was very popular among students and men in Meiji and Taisho period (mid 19th to early 20th century). Bag made of asa (hemp) Omi kasuri and akaso kasuri which were woven in Omi district in Shiga prefecture. Both have double ikat pattern. The bag has beautiful appliqued silk design.. Baby's cotton kimono (yukata) with one kind of katazome which is called "chu-sen". Generally, yukata, tenugui (cotton hand towel) and fukin (kitchen cloth) are dyed with the technique. Tan-mono (roll of cloth) are folded in many layers and each layer is applied with paste resist and then dye is poured. In good condition except for some sprinkled tiny stains.
