This is a sodenashi ( vest ) of sori-hiki ( sledge-hauling ) from Shonai region in Yamagata prefecture in Tohoku district. It has rectangular pieces of cloth with sashiko ( quilting ) attached in one of the shoulders and in front diagonally for strength and ornament. It is made of hand-woven cotton stripe and it has hand-spun and natural indigo dyed cotton for the lining. In excellent condition. 50.5cm x 81cm Late 19th to early 20th century.

This is a typical early Showa ( 1920s to 1930s ) kimono which has striking colors, red silk lining and made of high quality soft silk. The ground is figured silk and has katazome ( stencil dyed fan motifs. This kimono is for a girl, so a bit smaller than adult's. This is a sakiori sodenashi ( vest ) hand-woven of cotton strips which are recycled from old cloth, such as kimono, furoshiki, futon cover and so on. Warps are asa ( hemp ) threads. It has beautiful mixed color of natural indigo and others. It has indigo cloth with fine sashiko ( quilting ) in the top in the back. In good condition except for one of the side is open as threads are cut. The former half of the 20th century. 38.5cm x 67cm

This is a futon cover with rare and modern pattern ( probably the Big Dipper or the Septentrions ) which is katazome ( stencil-dye ). It is made of hand-spun cotton and natural indigo dyed. It has thick texture. In good condition but has some indigo faded parts and a few mending patches in the back.
