Katagami which is used for katazome (stenci-resist-dye), made of many layers of washi (Japanese handmade paper). It is painted with kakishibu (persimmon tannin) for waterproof and strength. The pattern "Kanze-mizu" is derived from the crest of the Noh drama player Kanze Dayu which is whirl of water. He was the founder of Kanze style Noh (15th century). A roll of cotton cloth with Miura-shibori from Arimatsu in Nagoya city where has been the main product place of shibori textiles since Edo period. This one is before "yunoshi"that is the process of washing and ironing (smoothing) with steam the cloth. After the process, the cloth becomes usual measurement 35cm x 13m for one yukata (cotton kimono). Vegetable indigo dye. In excellent condition. 1950s to 1980s.
