This one is before "yunoshi"that is the process of washing and ironing (smoothing) with steam the cloth. It is Murayama Oshima tsumugi which has been woven in Musashi-Murayama city in Tokyo where silk fabrics have been produced since early 8th century. Kurume kasuri hanten with double kasuri "MinaMi character"motif which means "south". Kurume is located in Fukuoka prefecture in Kyushu and has been producing cotton kasuri textiles since late Edo period (mid 19th century). They use machine-spun yarn since 1883 and dyed with chemical indigo and machine woven after early 1970s. This one is hand woven but machine-sewn. It might have been worn for a festival.
