This is a boy's kimono worn at the occasion of Shichi-go-san which literally means seven five three. When boys reach age of five and girls reach three and seven, they are taken by parents or grandparents to a Shinto shrine in the neighborhood on November 15th to celebrate their growth. This kimono was worn by a 5 years old boy. It is synthetic kimono, but has hand-drawn rabbit & wave motif and pressed gold and silver foils. In excellent condition except for a few light stains in the lining. Mid to late 20th century. 87.5cm x 60.5cm
