Jingasa worn by a worrior. It is handwoven of Japanese paper yarn which is made from kozo tree fiber and coated with urushi, lacquer. This kind of paper textile is called "kami nagato" or "nagato" and it is durable and waterproof so that it was made into many kinds of folk crafts such as bowl, tabacco pipe case, lunch box, water bottle and so on in Edo period. This jingasa is in good condition except for a rift and the cords inside are much worn out. Edo period (the 18th or the first half of the 19th century) 48cm x 24.5cm
