Jinbaori (samurai's war coat worn over armors) made of wool imported from Europe for outside, silk brocade imported from China for lapels and wasarasa (Japanese cotton print) made of hand-spun cotton for the lining. Red wool also imported from Europe is used for the patchwork crest and design in the back. The metal button has an interesting design with "hichiyo-mon" and "DOUBLE GILT" in the back. The yellow wool and silk brocade lapels have many damages and all the pipings are lost but the wasarasa lining is in excellent condition. Mid 19th century or earlier.
