Two woodblock printed books of gesaku (popular story). Both have beautiful woodblock print covers. Right: "Kyokaku-den" author: Rakutei Saiba (1799~1858) published in Kaei 7 (1855) Kyokaku was a man who had a spirit of chivalry and "weakened the strong and helped the weaks" Left: "Shiranui-monogatari" author: Ryukatei Tanekazu (1807~1858). Published in Ansei 5 (1858) Toyokuni is an painter for woodblock prints for both books and there is a stamp of Kunisada in the left one. The right book is generally in good condition but has holes in the last two pages and the thread is lost. The left book is in good condition except for some tiny moth holes. The right book: 11.5cm x 18cm The left book: 11.5cm x 17.5cm
