Kaji-zukin (fireman's hood) made of vegetable indigo dye cotton with traditional "Matsukawa-bishi" pattern which is katazome (stencil-resist dye). It has hand-stitched sashiko with indigo dye cotton thread. In excellent condition and looks never used. Water is poured over hood, hanten, gloves and so on before a fireman entered fire site. The second half of the 19th century. 36cm x 56cm
