This is a cotton kimono with beautiful colorful noshi design which is tsutsugaki technique. Tsutsugaki is freehand painting using rice paste as resist. "Noshi" is an ornament which used to be made of flattened abalone strips and put on a gift in old days, but it is replaced with paper these days. In good condition except for some stains in the left front sleeve ( 1cm x 1cm ) and in front body. This one was worn at a festival or on stage. Sewn by machine. Early to mid Showa period ( ca 1940s~1970s ) 127cm x 154cm 50" x 60.6"
