MOCHE NOBLE MAN. Ca. 450 - 750 A.D. Private New Jersey collection. 11.5 inches tall by 7.5 inches wide. 3.5 inch open spout tops headdress. A wonderful example of a Moche Noble Man in full regalia. Cream on chocolate with black facial paint. A shield decorated with circular designs is held in his right hand and a scepter or club with mace head in the left. Very fine facial features. Full, elaborate tunic. Marvelous headdress having two winged birds in relief on each side of front. Headdress sash tied under chin. Hair flowing out bottom of headdress over shoulders. This piece has had repairs to a crack extending from shield but is otherwise in excellent condition.
