A breathtaking and exquisitely decorated foliated Japanese treasure bowl. Marked Dai Nippon (Great Japan), the new owner of this visual treat will be delighted to possess one of the rarest and most unusual bowls ever to pass into our hands, the central chrysanthemum in the bottom well of the bowl is convoluted and raised with each petal outlined in subtle gold; the bowl is alive with the scenery of birds and flowers, both inside and outside the bowl. Such profusion of color is hard to come by and a rarity that is seldom seen in Kutani ware. Our bowl measures 9" diameter x 3" and dates to the late Meiji period (1868-1912). Condition is excellent.
