A beautiful sapphire blue Qianlong period (1736-1795) small wasted and broad shouldered jar. The cobalt blue mimics the old heap and pile effect of the earlier Ming dynasty. The glaze has a silkly smooth texture typical of early 18th C. porcelains. The white patch at the neck area is a clay slip that was partially glazed and was not scored because of a slight depression in the affected area. In excellent condition, no chips, no cracks, no repairs repairs, it measures 4 inches high x 3.5 inches diameter.
