Elaborate headdress or part of a headdress, used by young girls during a harvest dance (niambai). The lower part is made of thick plate silver, from there three poles of woven silver wire go up and end in a wild bush of wire with silver and cotton ornaments at the end. H. 30 cm, W. 33 cm. Very good condition. This piece can be dated in the 19th to very early 20th century which makes it very rare.

Stunning necklace made of large agate beads, made in India in the 19th century, traded in Mali, combined with old silver beads from Afghanistan. Length 49 cm. The front of the pendant is decorated with 3 figures in a garden, one holding a fan and one holding a parasol. The text on the back of these pendants is usually about protection and good fortune for the wearer. Dimensions: 7 x 5,5 cm, length of the chain 53 cm. Weight 68 gr. There are holes on 3 sides of the pendant. There is a hallmark on the top side. Provenance: Dutch private collection. The acid test shows a silver content of ca. 90 %.
