The lid with a fine decoration of floral patterns. The silver makes a great contrast with the dark patina of the copper. L. 7,5 cm, H. 6 cm. Very good condition.

The small size of the figures (23-29 cm) makes this an interesting and rare group. The moulded figures still have much of their painting intact. The come in different sizes with different faces. Originally they carried wooden attributes or weapons. Condition: normal age wear, a few repairs (one arm and some toes, see pictures), overal in very good condition. Every figure comes with an acrylic stand H. . The group comes with a TL report from Kotalla which confirms the dating of these figures (3 figures randomly tested). Extremely fine and rare mask, made of hardwood. Warm glossy patina and beautiful age wear. Early 20th century. H. 22 cm. Comes with a patinated brass stand. Provenance: private collection Lanaken, Belgium - private collection Breda, The Netherlands.

Made of grey pottery, covered with a white layer of paint, decorated with bright red and black pigments. Figures of this very large size are rare and were only made for royalty and high nobility. The figure was made in two parts, the head was connected with the body by a wooden pin, which is of course now gone and replaced by a carboard roll. Condition: wear to the painting, the figure is covered in soil, traces of plant roots. A thermoluminescence test from Ralf Kotalla confirms the age of this item and is included in the sale. A rare and complete group of an ox and carriage in grey pottery with remains of polychrome. China, Tang Dynasty (618-907). The result of the thermoluminescence test by Kotalla is consistent with the dating of this lot. The report is included in the sale. Dimensions: the carriage H. 32 cm, L. 23 cm, the ox H. 18 cm, L. 23 cm. Condition: very good, no visible repairs, although repairs on early pottery are quite common and accepted. Rare and large bronze shrine. The central figure is a Jina or Tirthankara. He is surrounded by small Jina's on the back plate. Each of the 24 Tirthankaras is represented by an animal or a symbol. There is an engraved animal on the foot of this shrine, but it is hard to distinguish which animal it is. The shrine is in an excellent condition, all three parts belong together, there are no repairs. It has a clean appearance due to the daily worshipping and washing tradition in Jainism. It was made in Karnataka in the 18th century. H. 34 cm , W. 20 cm. Provence: private collection Belgium.

Military horse and soldier,the soldier wearing a helmet and the horse wearing a kind of harness. Lovely piece in the typical style of the Northern Qi Dynasty (550-577). Height 34,5 cm. Good condition. Comes with a thermoluminescence test from Ralf Kotalla.

Exceptional and early mask covered with a reddish brown paint (original). Oval eyes, sharp nose and full lips. Originally there was an iron pin in the forehead. H. 21 cm. 19th to early 20th century. A very rare and early depiction of baby Krishna. The silver bracelet makes it even more special. H. 6,3 cm. Fabulous age wear and patina. Provenance: private collection Belgium.

A very rare and early example with its original polychrome and clear traces of long time use. Note the glossy patina on the back of the mask. There is some minor old damage caused by insects on the eyebrows, but in general this mask is in a very good authentic condition. H. 29,5 cm, W. 23 cm. From a Dutch private collection.

A rare and early wooden Guanyin. Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Guanyin seated on a throne flanked by two birds. H. 54 cm. The back of the figure has a small cavity which contains a small silk parcel containing offerings. Condition: age wear, old insect infestations, traces of repainting on the base. Provenance: in my private collection since the mid 90’s, bought in Hongkong from Wing Kei Curios, Hollywood Road.

Senufo staff with anthropomorphic figure of a seated female. Made of hardwood. H. 61 cm. One hand and part of the left foot missing. Excellent age wear and patina. Provenance: Roger Bediat, Abidjan.
