A very unusual pair of pillow ends, both made of three panels. The central panels with scenes of deities or mythological figures in a garden, the openwork side panels with floral decorations and bats, symbolizing happiness, longevity and prosperity. These pillow ends were stitched to an embroidered pillow meant to decorate the wedding bed. This was common practice among the rich Chinese in Singapore and Malaysia. Date: early 20th century. Dimensions: 30x8,5 cm. Weight 128 g.

A fine and large sculpture of a deity touching his beard with one hand and holding a scepter in the other one. H. 72 cm. (83 cm including the stand). In the back of the figure there is a cavity for offerings. The figure dates from the later part of the Ming Dynasty, ca 16th/early 17th century. A rare and early wooden Guanyin. Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Guanyin seated on a throne flanked by two birds. H. 54 cm. The back of the figure has a small cavity which contains a small silk parcel containing offerings. Condition: age wear, old insect infestations, traces of repainting on the base. Provenance: in my private collection since the mid 90’s, bought in Hongkong from Wing Kei Curios, Hollywood Road.

Rare group of 10 Indo-Portuguese silver crowns, finely chiseled and engraved. These crowns once adorned the heads of colonial wooden saints in the churches and monasteries of Goa. The largest crown 4,5 x 4 cm the smallest croen 3 x 2 cm. Two crowns are inlaid. I did not check the stones; they could be rough rubies and sapphires, very common in India.
