Xian province, rare dated baket in lacquer a d wickerwork. Finely decorated with Buddhist symbols. H. 13 cm, diameter 12 cm. Bares the cyclical date 1828. Minor chips and age wear.

A rare tomb gift from the Song Dynasty, made of red pottery, covered with green, brown and yellow glaze. The crawling position probably shows that this lady is worshipping the deceased person. Length 17 cm, height 12 cm. Condition: the hands restored, glaze loss. Please refer to the pictures.

Lacquer and wickerwork, the inside of the lid serves as a presentation bowl for sweets. Decorated with Buddhist symbols. H. 16 cm, diameter 15 cm. Cyclical date 1857. Good condition with normal age wear.

The small size of the figures (23-29 cm) makes this an interesting and rare group. The moulded figures still have much of their painting intact. The come in different sizes with different faces. Originally they carried wooden attributes or weapons. Condition: normal age wear, a few repairs (one arm and some toes, see pictures), overal in very good condition. Every figure comes with an acrylic stand H. . The group comes with a TL report from Kotalla which confirms the dating of these figures (3 figures randomly tested). Made of grey pottery, covered with a white layer of paint, decorated with bright red and black pigments. Figures of this very large size are rare and were only made for royalty and high nobility. The figure was made in two parts, the head was connected with the body by a wooden pin, which is of course now gone and replaced by a carboard roll. Condition: wear to the painting, the figure is covered in soil, traces of plant roots. A thermoluminescence test from Ralf Kotalla confirms the age of this item and is included in the sale. A rare and complete group of an ox and carriage in grey pottery with remains of polychrome. China, Tang Dynasty (618-907). The result of the thermoluminescence test by Kotalla is consistent with the dating of this lot. The report is included in the sale. Dimensions: the carriage H. 32 cm, L. 23 cm, the ox H. 18 cm, L. 23 cm. Condition: very good, no visible repairs, although repairs on early pottery are quite common and accepted. Military horse and soldier,the soldier wearing a helmet and the horse wearing a kind of harness. Lovely piece in the typical style of the Northern Qi Dynasty (550-577). Height 34,5 cm. Good condition. Comes with a thermoluminescence test from Ralf Kotalla.

A rare and early wooden Guanyin. Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Guanyin seated on a throne flanked by two birds. H. 54 cm. The back of the figure has a small cavity which contains a small silk parcel containing offerings. Condition: age wear, old insect infestations, traces of repainting on the base. Provenance: in my private collection since the mid 90’s, bought in Hongkong from Wing Kei Curios, Hollywood Road.

Rare type of Han amphora, made of red pottery de orated with bronze appliques. H. 19,5 cm. Very good condition, no traces of repairs. Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD).

Ancient bronze food container dating from the Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD). With a domed cover with loop handles. When inverted the cover becomes a tripod dish. H. 15 cm, Diameter 21,5 cm. Condition: Good condition with excellent verdegris and lapis patina. Provenance: Collection Mr. Poel, antique dealer in Den Haag, ca. 1990, private collection Den Haag.

The Bodhisattva Guanyin, executed in fragrant camphor wood. Made in two parts. H. 32 cm. China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Remains of lacquer and gilding.

With a scalopped rim and a hand carved floral decoration on the interior. Diameter 16,8 cm, height 6,8 cm. Very good condition, no cracks or repairs. There are a few very minor chips and afiring flaw to the foot rim.

Depicting several generations of high ranking officials and their wives. Bright colours and very fine painting. Condition: age wear, paint loss, cracks, traces of repainting. The painting had been remounted. Personally I would remove the borders and have the painting framed. Dimensions: the painting 95 x 150 cm, the scroll 109 x 210 cm.

A fabulous and rare Jiajing/Wanli kraak plate, made for the Japanese market. Plate with flattened barbed slightly upright everted rim painted with a figure on a bridge to an island, Crossing a bridge towards a house beneath overhanging tree from rockwork. In the distance on another island stands a thatched viewing pavilion, all within a band of nine cranes in water with flowering lous, the underside with a fruiting peach branch repeated on the other side below a band of sketchily drawn prunus branches. Diameter 19.5 cm Jiajing/Wanli 1560-1580 Condition: excellent, no chips, cracks or repairs. Comes with a Japanese storage box (tomabako). Acquired: Frides Lameris, Amsterdam, 1982. Green glazed pottery wirh wonderful iridescence. The roof can be removed and the pig can be taken out of the sty. Similar pieces can be found in the book 'The Spirit of Han'.
