Lacquer and wickerwork, the inside of the lid serves as a presentation bowl for sweets. Decorated with Buddhist symbols. H. 16 cm, diameter 15 cm. Cyclical date 1857. Good condition with normal age wear.

A rare tomb gift from the Song Dynasty, made of red pottery, covered with green, brown and yellow glaze. The crawling position probably shows that this lady is worshipping the deceased person. Length 17 cm, height 12 cm. Condition: the hands restored, glaze loss. Please refer to the pictures.

Xian province, rare dated baket in lacquer a d wickerwork. Finely decorated with Buddhist symbols. H. 13 cm, diameter 12 cm. Bares the cyclical date 1828. Minor chips and age wear.

Every dish with a different decoration. Diameter 13 cm. All in good condition with normal age wear. From Shanxi province. All dishes with cyclical date 1843.

The small size of the figures (23-29 cm) makes this an interesting and rare group. The moulded figures still have much of their painting intact. The come in different sizes with different faces. Originally they carried wooden attributes or weapons. Condition: normal age wear, a few repairs (one arm and some toes, see pictures), overal in very good condition. Every figure comes with an acrylic stand H. . The group comes with a TL report from Kotalla which confirms the dating of these figures (3 figures randomly tested). Made of grey pottery, covered with a white layer of paint, decorated with bright red and black pigments. Figures of this very large size are rare and were only made for royalty and high nobility. The figure was made in two parts, the head was connected with the body by a wooden pin, which is of course now gone and replaced by a carboard roll. Condition: wear to the painting, the figure is covered in soil, traces of plant roots. A thermoluminescence test from Ralf Kotalla confirms the age of this item and is included in the sale. A rare and complete group of an ox and carriage in grey pottery with remains of polychrome. China, Tang Dynasty (618-907). The result of the thermoluminescence test by Kotalla is consistent with the dating of this lot. The report is included in the sale. Dimensions: the carriage H. 32 cm, L. 23 cm, the ox H. 18 cm, L. 23 cm. Condition: very good, no visible repairs, although repairs on early pottery are quite common and accepted. Made of red pottery, covered with a white layer of slib, then painted. Tang Dynasty (618-907). Height 34,5 cm. Condition: expected age wear, overall in good condition. A thermoluminescence-test from Kotalla confirms the dating of this figure and is included in the sale.

Military horse and soldier,the soldier wearing a helmet and the horse wearing a kind of harness. Lovely piece in the typical style of the Northern Qi Dynasty (550-577). Height 34,5 cm. Good condition. Comes with a thermoluminescence test from Ralf Kotalla.

A rare and early wooden Guanyin. Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Guanyin seated on a throne flanked by two birds. H. 54 cm. The back of the figure has a small cavity which contains a small silk parcel containing offerings. Condition: age wear, old insect infestations, traces of repainting on the base. Provenance: in my private collection since the mid 90’s, bought in Hongkong from Wing Kei Curios, Hollywood Road.

Rare type of Han amphora, made of red pottery de orated with bronze appliques. H. 19,5 cm. Very good condition, no traces of repairs. Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD).

Ancient bronze food container dating from the Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD). With a domed cover with loop handles. When inverted the cover becomes a tripod dish. H. 15 cm, Diameter 21,5 cm. Condition: Good condition with excellent verdegris and lapis patina. Provenance: Collection Mr. Poel, antique dealer in Den Haag, ca. 1990, private collection Den Haag.

The Bodhisattva Guanyin, executed in fragrant camphor wood. Made in two parts. H. 32 cm. China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Remains of lacquer and gilding.

Depicting several generations of high ranking officials and their wives. Bright colours and very fine painting. Condition: age wear, paint loss, cracks, traces of repainting. The painting had been remounted. Personally I would remove the borders and have the painting framed. Dimensions: the painting 95 x 150 cm, the scroll 109 x 210 cm.

With a scalopped rim and a hand carved floral decoration on the interior. Diameter 16,8 cm, height 6,8 cm. Very good condition, no cracks or repairs. There are a few very minor chips and afiring flaw to the foot rim.

Green glazed pottery wirh wonderful iridescence. The roof can be removed and the pig can be taken out of the sty. Similar pieces can be found in the book 'The Spirit of Han'. A fabulous and rare Jiajing/Wanli kraak plate, made for the Japanese market. Plate with flattened barbed slightly upright everted rim painted with a figure on a bridge to an island, Crossing a bridge towards a house beneath overhanging tree from rockwork. In the distance on another island stands a thatched viewing pavilion, all within a band of nine cranes in water with flowering lous, the underside with a fruiting peach branch repeated on the other side below a band of sketchily drawn prunus branches. Diameter 19.5 cm Jiajing/Wanli 1560-1580 Condition: excellent, no chips, cracks or repairs. Comes with a Japanese storage box (tomabako). Acquired: Frides Lameris, Amsterdam, 1982. Depicting a high ranking mandarin with his three wives. Dimensions: the painting 89x137 cm, the scroll 103x197 cm. Condition: expected age wear, paint loss, cracks, traces of repainting, remounted on a new scroll.

With an unusual blue and purple glaze and red and black painting. Burial gifts, China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). H. 16 cm (6,6 inch), L. 19 cm (7,5 inch). Wonderful condition with aprropriate age wear.

H. 14,5 cm. One side decorated with a landscape with figures, the other side with flowers. Condition: firing crack in the neck, age cracks in the glaze. Comes with the original Christie's sticker, the original certificate and the invoice from 1992. The Vung Tau sank in 1690 on its way from China to Batavia, Indonesia. The cargo was meant for Amsterdam. The wreck was found in the early 90's and it's content was auctioned at Christie's Amsterdam in 1992. The auction became a craze and the porcelain ffetched many times more than estimated. This vase was bought from an antique shop in 1992 for the equivalent of 1700 euros.

Made of painted wood, depicting husband and wife, seated on a chair. Most probably from the Hunan Province. The lady still has a small parcel with offerings in her back. We opened it up and found a seahorse, pieces of stone and mica and other materials. H. 27 and 29,5 cm. Condition: heavily eaten by woodworms, which adds to the charme. The figures were treated by the former owner and are perfectly clean.

Finely cast, with traces of gilding. H. 20 cm. Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Collection number on the back. Condition: age cracks and some old damage to the headdress. From a Dutch private collection.

Depicting Heshang, the Buddhist monk. Painted wood. From Hunan province. H. 22 cm. (33 cm. with stand). Excellent condition with normal age wear.

Hexagonal pewter teapot inlaid with brass panels engraved with birds, plants and fruits, all with their own auspicious meaning. Qianlong period (1736-1795). H. 24 cm. Good condition with good age wear and patina. There is a mark on the inside of the lid. I’ve collected this piece in Beijing in the late 90’s and kept it in my private collection ever since.

A very rare lobed spittoon enameled with floral decorations very unusual colors, like yellow and purple. Diameter 8,4 cm, H. 4,8 cm. Good condition with normal age wear. Ca. late 19th century.

With traces of the original pigments. No visible repairs, although repairs are common on early pottery. H. 26 cm. China, Tang Dynasty (618-906)

Necklace made of 13 carnelian and 14 enamelled silver beads, each ca. 2 cm. long. There are 52 small silver beads between the large ones. At the bottom two dragons chasing the flaming pearl. Hanging on 2 lingzi hooks there is a silver pendant in the shape of a boy riding a qilin, a fertility symbol. At the bottom of the pendant 2 turquoise beads and 2 carnelian flowers. The pendant without the beads measures 8 x 7 cm. The complete necklace is ca. 31 cm. high, the strand is ca. 52 cm long. Please not the very fine engraving on both sides of the pendant. High quality silver. Acid tested. Late 19th/early 20th. century. Similar necklaces can be found in ‘Four Centuries of Chinese Silver’ by Margareth Duda. Lovely fluted porcelain teapot decorated in the Imari palette with butterflies and flowers. H. 12,5 cm. This teapot is in in excellent condition: original lid, no cracks, chips or repairs, only minor ware to the gilding.

High ranking court lady with exquisite hairdo. White pottery with remains of red and black pigments. H. 30 cm. Good condition. Tang Dynasty (618-907). At our gallery we have ca. 50 pieces of pottery on display.

In the shape of two dragons chasing the flaming pearl. High grade silver with enamelled details, 11 smaller coral beads, diameter 9 mm. And one large coral bead, diameter 15 mm. The bracelet is 9 cm wide and 7,5 cm tall. The widest inner size is 6,5 cm. China, late 19th/early 20th century.

Depicting a boy on a Qilin, symbol of fertility. Dimensions: the pendant 7 x 8 cm, the chain 54 cm. Weight 60 gr. Ca. 2nd half 19th century.

Gilded wood. Guanyin sitting on a lotus throne, placed on an altar. the back plate decorated with mythical creatures. H. 39 cm. Condition: expected age wear.

A lobed tray made of brass and copper, enameled in cloisonné technique, decorated with two dragons chasing the flaming pearl. Dimensions 23 x 18 x 2 cm. The tray is in good condition with normal age wear. Ca. Late 19th century..

A finely decorated snuffbottle with a scene of figures in an interior. Decorated in underglaze blue and red. It has a Yongzheng mark. Considering the quality of the painting and the heavy wear to the glaze, to my opinion it is of the period. Any comments and ideas are very welcome. H. 8,5 cm. Condition: excellent, with heavy age wear to the glaze.

H. 9 cm. The glass bottle with masks on the sides. original silver stopper with spoon, inlaid with coral. Very good condition with nice age wear on the glass.

Red pottery moulded figure, glazed in turquoise, amber and black. On the back of his stool there is a coin symbol ( god of wealth?). H. 20 cm. Overall in very good condition with wear and flaking to the glaze and a chip at the back of his right arm. Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).

Lavishly inlaid with engraved mother of pearl. Dimensions: 30,5 x 18 x 11 cm. Exceptional good condition with almost all the inlay still intact, only some minor pieces missing. The wood has some age cracks and one of the long sides is a bit crooked. The brass corner pieces are all original.

With moulded decorations. H. 20 cm. Condition: some glaze loss. China, Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368)

The glasses made of smoky crystal. Minor chips to the tortoiseshell, some of the metal hinges have been replaced in the old days. Very good condition considering the age. China, late 19th century. Width 13, 5 cm. H. 5 cm.

Seated on a lotus throne, guarded by two attendants. On the back of the stand there is an inscription : This is a statue (or carving) or Kwanyin, for Mr. Wang (??)'s wife, Mrs. Chao (??). 2nd day, 4th month Daoguang 10th year (1830 A.D.). Condition: usual age wear, loss of gilding, the ribbon from the crown at the right side is missing. H. 23 cm.

This type of necklace with a pendant in the shape of a lock was given to Chinese children, so they would be ‘locked’ to life. 1. Large silver pendant decorated in enamel with two hares. The back with good fortune text. 7,5 x 5 cm. ( wear to the enamel) 2. Lock pendant decorated on both sides with flags and good fortune text. 6,5 x 4,5 cm. ( age wear). With mark. 3. Lock pendant with mythical beasts and floral pattern. The back with good fortune text. 5 x 3,5 cm. 4. Small pendant with floral decoration and text. 4 x 2,5 cm. ( dents and wear). With mark. Total weight 101 gr. Provenance: Dutch private collection.

Decorated with a dragon hunting the flaming pearl. Made in two segments with a horizontal seam. Excellent condition with slight age wear and scratches to the glaze. H. 7 cm , diameter 8 cm.

Shaped as a pile of coins, the lid made of a real silver coin. Hallmarked at the bottom. H. 24 mm, D. 18 mm. (1 x 0,75 inch)

The front of the pendant is decorated with 3 figures in a garden, one holding a fan and one holding a parasol. The text on the back of these pendants is usually about protection and good fortune for the wearer. Dimensions: 7 x 5,5 cm, length of the chain 53 cm. Weight 68 gr. There are holes on 3 sides of the pendant. There is a hallmark on the top side. Provenance: Dutch private collection. The acid test shows a silver content of ca. 90 %.

Decorated with floral patterns and Buddhist symbols. H. 6,5 cm D. 15 cm. The glaze with age cracks and some firing flaws. No damage or repair.

Finely embossed and engraved with a boy riding a Qilin (fertility symbol), surrounded by Buddhist symbols. Dimensions: 11 x 8 cm. Three holes at the bottom where chains with bells were once attached. See Margareth Duda - Four Centuries of Chinese Silver, for comparable lock pendants.

A rare huanghuali stationary box with it's original iron hardware and original finish. China, 18th/19th century. Dimensions: 33,5x17x9 cm. Condition: small repair top left front side, a few chips.

A magnificent and rare figure of a fat lady made of painted terracotta. Fat ladies are among the most famous objects of the Tang Dynasty (618-906) and they are a wellknown symbol of wealth.H. 31 cm. Condition: no traces of repairs are visible, most of the original colour is still present.

A lovely burial gift, this glazed and painted pottery offering table. The dishes with food and other objects are fixed to the table. China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Condition: repairs to the legs, age wear to the glaze and painting. W. 22,5 cm, D. 16 cm, H. 22,5 cm. TL test from Kotalla included.

Carved in the shape of a gourd. The silver with fine engraving. H. 8,3 cm. Excellent condition, nice patina.

A wonderful gilt brass kingfisher hairpin in the shape of a bird, holding a chain with an agath leaf in it's mouth. China, late 19th/early 20th century. L: 14 cm. W. m3,5 cm. Condition: wear to the feathers.

Made of silk. Two panels with very fine embroidery of a dragon and a phoenix, with lots of gold thread. The other panels with simple flower patterns. Some of them with gilt brass bells at the bottom. Condition: expected age wear and discoloring, but overall in good condition. Dimensions ca 100x100 cm. Ca. late 19th century.

Very nice lobed porcelain Qingbai plate with carved peony decoration. China, Song Dynasty (960-1279). Diameter 16 cm. Condition: glaze is locally crackled due to age, there is age wear to the glaze. No damage or repairs.

An interesting redwood opium tray with nice carving and original brass hardware. China, 19th century. Size: 37 x 24 cm.

Rare and unusual stoneware censer with brown Cizhou glaze. China, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Diameter 13,5 cm, H. 8 cm. Condition: excellent.

A finely cast bronze ink stone with cover. Marked Qianlong (1736-1795). Probably of the period but not later than early 19th century. Diameter 15 cm , H. 2 cm.
