Made of almost white jade. The last two picture show the actual color.

While most Tang figures were made of red pottery, this one is made of a much finer white pottery. This can be seen in the fine details and facial features of this eunuch. A rare and complete group of an ox and carriage in grey pottery with remains of polychrome. China, Tang Dynasty (618-907). The result of the thermoluminescence test by Kotalla is consistent with the dating of this lot.
The report is included in the sale. Dimensions: the carriage H. 32 cm, L. 23 cm, the ox H. 18 cm, L. 23 cm. Condition: very good, no visible repairs, although repairs on early pottery are quite common and accepted.

Made of hardwood, carved with floral patterns and a qilin, partly gilded and painted red. This tablet is to commemmorate the death of husband and wife who both passed away in 1853. A full translation of the text can be found in the last picture. Height 36 cm. Very good condition.

Made of grey pottery, covered with a white layer of paint, decorated with bright red and black pigments. Figures of this very large size are rare and were only made for royalty and high nobility. The figure was made in two parts, the head was connected with the body by a wooden pin, which is of course now gone and replaced by a carboard roll. Condition: wear to the painting, the figure is covered in soil, traces of plant roots. A thermoluminescence test from Ralf Kotalla confirms the age of this...
Grey pottery with its original painting. H. 9 cm, diameter 16 cm.
Decorated with spirals in orange and white. No cracks or repairs, only normal age wear. Pleae take a close look at the pictures. Traces of plant roots on the inside, a wonderful sign of authenticity.
Made of painted wood, depicting husband and wife, seated on a chair. Most probably from the Hunan Province. The lady still has a small parcel with offerings in her back. We opened it up and found a seahorse, pieces of stone and mica and other materials. H. 27 and 29,5 cm. Condition: heavily eaten by woodworms, which adds to the charme. The figures were treated by the former owner and are perfectly clean.
Made of red pottery, covered with a white layer of slib, then painted. Tang Dynasty (618-907). Height 34,5 cm. Condition: expected age wear, overall in good condition. A thermoluminescence-test from Kotalla confirms the dating of this figure and is included in the sale.
Seated on a lotus throne, guarded by two attendants. On the back of the stand there is an inscription : This is a statue (or carving) or Kwanyin, for Mr. Wang (??)'s wife, Mrs. Chao (??).
2nd day, 4th month Daoguang 10th year (1830 A.D.).
Condition: usual age wear, loss of gilding, the ribbon from the crown at the right side is missing. H. 23 cm.

A rare tomb gift from the Song Dynasty, made of red pottery, covered with green, brown and yellow glaze. The crawling position probably shows that this lady is worshipping the deceased person. Length 17 cm, height 12 cm. Condition: the hands restored, glaze loss. Please refer to the pictures.
