A fabulous and rare Jiajing/Wanli kraak plate, made for the Japanese market. Plate with flattened barbed slightly upright everted rim painted with a figure on a bridge to an island, Crossing a bridge towards a house beneath overhanging tree from rockwork. In the distance on another island stands a thatched viewing pavilion, all within a band of nine cranes in water with flowering lous, the underside with a fruiting peach branch repeated on the other side below a band of sketchily drawn prunus branches. Diameter 19.5 cm Jiajing/Wanli 1560-1580 Condition: excellent, no chips, cracks or repairs. Comes with a Japanese storage box (tomabako). Acquired: Frides Lameris, Amsterdam, 1982. With a scalopped rim and a hand carved floral decoration on the interior. Diameter 16,8 cm, height 6,8 cm. Very good condition, no cracks or repairs. There are a few very minor chips and afiring flaw to the foot rim.

Lovely fluted porcelain teapot decorated in the Imari palette with butterflies and flowers. H. 12,5 cm. This teapot is in in excellent condition: original lid, no cracks, chips or repairs, only minor ware to the gilding.

H. 14,5 cm. One side decorated with a landscape with figures, the other side with flowers. Condition: firing crack in the neck, age cracks in the glaze. Comes with the original Christie's sticker, the original certificate and the invoice from 1992. The Vung Tau sank in 1690 on its way from China to Batavia, Indonesia. The cargo was meant for Amsterdam. The wreck was found in the early 90's and it's content was auctioned at Christie's Amsterdam in 1992. The auction became a craze and the porcelain ffetched many times more than estimated. This vase was bought from an antique shop in 1992 for the equivalent of 1700 euros.

Porcelain vase decorated with carved peonies and glazed in the typical blueish green Qingbai color. H. 23 cm. Condition: some discoloring, a firing crack on the shoulder (under the glaze)and a very small star crack in the glaze on the inside of the mouth. China, Song Dynasty (960-1279)

Decorated with a bird on a rock and flower panels. Diameter 14 cm. The footrims with attached oven sand, often seen on porcelain from this period. Wanli (1573-1619). Condition: one saucer with a hairline crack.

Decorated with flying horses. H. 7 cm, D. 14,5 cm. No damage or repair, only firing flaws, normal for the period.

Decorated with horseriders. The glaze with age cracks and firing flaws. No damage or repair. H. 6 cm, D. 14,5 cm.

Decorated with honeycomb motif. H. 7 cm, D. 15 cm. The glaze crackled due to age and with firing flaws. Miniscule rim crack. No damage or repair.

Decorated with floral patterns and Buddhist symbols. H. 6,5 cm D. 15 cm. The glaze with age cracks and some firing flaws. No damage or repair.

An export blue and white plate decorated with a bird and floral patterns. Kangxi period (1662-1722). Marked with an Artemisia leaf. Diameter 27 cm. The silver handle was added in 1854 by the wellknown Dutch silversmith J.M. van Kempen in Utrecht(later in Voorschoten). In the 19th century it was very fashionable in The Netherlands to add silver mounts, lids and handles to antique porcelain objects. Silvermarks: walking lion (silver grade 835), minerva head, maker's mark and year letter U for 1854. Condition: the plate has minor chips to the footrim, otherwise perfect, on the silver handle the top part of one of the leaves is missing.

H. 18 cm. The vase is in perfect condition. Only the lid is missing, as is often the case with pieces of this age. China, Kangxi period (1662-1722)

Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368). Diameter 13 cm. Condition excellent. Origin: Jiangxi Province.

With an overglaze decoration of foo dogs and peonies. China, ca. 1620-1640. H. 16 cm. Condition: 1,5 cm hairline crack at the mouth, minor chips to the footrim.

Lovely blue and white kendi decorated with an immortal in a landscape. China, 1620-1640. Height 18 cm. Condition: some fllebites to the mouthrim, a brown spot due to iron oxide in the glaze, no damage or repairs.

Lovely miniature qingbai altar set: a censer and two vases. China, Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368). H. censer 10,5 cm, vases 14 cm. Condition: excellent.

Wonderful porcelain jar, decorated in blue and white. Typical wanli pattern of swastikas on the shoulder, the rest of the jar decorated with gardens and two flying cranes, China, Wanli (1573-1620). Condition: two hairline cracks on the mouth rim, one of them with an almost invisible related crack on the shoulder. Dimensions: H. 17,5 cm, Diameter 17 cm.

A very interesting set of 5 porcelain bowls with monochrome glaze, marked with maker's mark. China, late Qing or early Republic. H. 6,5 cm, Diameter 11 cm. Condition: small piece of glaze is missing on the inside bottom of the green bowl, the same bowl has a minor glaze imperfection on the outside. The rest of the set is in mint condition.

A very interesting item for the scholar's table, this Qingbai porcelain brushrest in the shape of mountains with a monkey, bird etc. China, Yüan Dynasty (1279-1368). L. 12 cm. Condition: excellent.

A very attractive and extremely rare sculpture in the shape of a basket holding a baby boy and girl. The porcelain body with splashes of Qingbai glaze. The outside of the basket decorated with characters for long life and happiness. China, Yuan Dynasty (1279-1368). L. 15cm, W. 11cm, H. 7 cm. Condition: excellent, no cracks or repairs.

A wonderful blue and white porcelain kendi. China, Wanli (1573-1620). The silver mounts were added in Indonesia in the 19th century. H. 22cm. Condition: excellent, appropriate age wear and a few glaze cracks.

A porcelain Kendi with powderblue glaze and decorations in gold, mounted with a silver lid and spout. China, Qianlong (1736-1795). H. 27 cm. Condition: wear to the gold decoration and wear to the silver (see pictures). The silver spout may have had a small lid, that was connected with a chain to the main lid of the Kendi. Note: Many Kendis were exported to Indonesia, it is very well possible that the silver mounts were added there. Provenance: Amsterdam private collection.

A wonderful Qingbai porcelain wine ewer from the Hutian kilns. China, Song Dynasty (960-1279). H. 16 cm. Condition: some discoloring in the glaze, small ornament on top of the handle restuck, small chip from the ornament on top of the lid.

This set of seven Chinese porcelain bowls comes from the Diana shipwreck. It sank in March 1817 in the Strait of Malacca. The contents were recovered in 1994 and auctioned at Christie's in Amsterdam in 1995. Dimensions: Diameter 14 cm, H. 7 cm each. Condition: 5 bowls perfect, one with a chip on the mouthrim, one with a hairline crack. Every bowl has the original auction sticker.
