Three dressed wooden Venavi figures, two females and one male, standing in a box that symbolizes a house. The females are adorned with belts made of glass beads. Mid 20th century. Dimensions: complete set 34 x 17 x 25 cm, the figures 19 to 21 cm. Very good condition with great wear from use and a nice patina. Provenance: Ursula Voorhuis, The Netherlands. She owns one of the biggest Yoruba collections in the world and did a lot of field research and collecting in the 60’s and 70’s.

Male and female Ibeji from Eruwa town in the Ibarapa region in Nigeria. Both figure are adorned with glass bead necklaces, one metal earring each and belts made of hardwood discs. The female figure has an aluminium bracelet. This pair dates from the first half of the 20th century. Condition: repair to the left breast and nose of the female and her left earlobe is missing.
