For the baseball memorabilia collector, a rare and possibly unique item: a standard white frisbee, inscribed and signed in blue marker by all-time great MICKEY MANTLE. Mantle played major league baseball for the New York Yankees between 1951 and 1968, playing center field and first base. An outstanding switch hitter, he set many records in the sport and is certainly considered among its most famous players of all time. He died in 1995 after a long retirement. The frisbee, 9 1/4" in diameter, is from the Video Shack Video Cassette and Disc Center, and it bears a 1982 copyright symbol. I acquired this at a San Fernando Valley (suburban Los Angeles) estate sale. The story that went along with this was that the baseball hero had gone into the store in the 1980's and while there was kind enough to sign this for the owner. The frisbee has acquired some dust/light soiling while in my possession. I very gingerly cleaned off most of that but for obvious reasons did not disturb the area around the writing, which could be so easily wiped off, as it is in black marker pen. This item should be placed into a plastic box so that it can be protected from dust. A rare opportunity to own not just a signature by the man himself, but a frisbee he signed!
