Oil on canvas painting of the famous cathedral at Taxco, Mexico, (historical town outside of Cuernavaca, popular with tourists and artists due to its setting, history and architecture), the work dating to late 20th century, signed at lower right "N Prevo". Measurements are 27 1/2" by 36" and 31" by 39" framed. Note the detail captured by the artist in the left portion of the composition, especially the tiny figures and animals, tiered houses with their red tile roofs, and the two mothers holding their children. At right a cat sits on the wall with its back to the viewer, surveying the scene . Taxco's cathedral has remained a very popular subject of artists painting for the tourist trade that flows endlessly through the appealing town. This folk art work is large and colorful and will bring a lot of decorative appeal to its eventual setting. Condition is excellent (including the gold framing) though I do note about nine old nail holes at bottom, most of them painted over, that date to the creation of the work, when it might have been intended to be about an inch less in height. One nail head remains visible, just below the signature.
