A set of two volumes in slipcase, "The King Ranch", 1957, published by Little, Brown & Co, Boston. This is a classic work of western Americana and Texas history, focusing on the country's largest ranch, in far southern Texas, measuring 1,289 square miles. The ranch is world-famous and its mystique is interwoven into the history of Texas. Volume one is signed in ink by the author on the half-title page. The books are in excellent, clean condition. The slipcase has moderate wear to corners and edges. Each volume has a bookplate of past owner. Tom Lea (1907-2001) was an artist, writer, illustrator, muralist and historian. He traveled widely in the course of his long life but always returned to El Paso. A man of many talents, the Tom Lea Institute has been established to protect and promote his rich legacy and contribution to the Southwest.
