A surrealistic oil on canvasboard scene of dream-like bizarre figures, several of which have fish-like characteristics, 11" by 14" (15 1/4" by 18 1/4" in attractive older frame), signed at lower right corner "Victor Brauner" and dated below "25.3.1949". The work is offered as in the style or manner of highly important Romanian-born artist Victor Brauner (1903-1966). The Brauner catalogue raisonne experts in France have seen images of the work and confirmed that it is very definitely not by the hand of that artist, works of whom can bring hundreds of thousands of dollars at auctions. Nevertheless it is a charming and unusual painting, which, in its attractive frame, will make for an interesting piece of art for the wall, and the work is in good condition. A limited edition PRINT authentically signed by Brauner is offered in my shop.
