Etching on paper laid on card, the subject a marketplace in the Jewish Quarter of Amsterdam, signed with "ML" initials and "927" as if a date (not the typical signature of the artist, apparently added later either by him or some other party). This is a work "Judenstrasse in Amsterdam", 1909, by famous German artist MAX LIEBERMANN (1847-1935). The sheet measures 17 3/4" by 23 1/2" and it is housed in an inexpensive modern day black frame, behind scratched old Plexi (serves a protective purpose only). There is a fleur de lys watermark at left margin. Lower left corner is a bit stubbed and worn, other corners also show a bit of wear, image area slightly oxidized compared to margins, and there is a crease from right edge of image to right edge of sheet. Liebermann executed a number of works featuring the Amsterdam neighborhood. A noted German impressionist, his oil paintings can bring into the millions at auctions.
