Original very fine, detailed pencil drawing on paper of a seated middle aged gentleman (**NOT A PRINT**!!!!), 17 1/2" by 11" (approximately 25 1/2" by 19" as framed), signed at lower right "K. de Groot", not dated but likely late 19th century. It is hard to believe that this is not a print, the work is so fine and accomplished. Strangely, I can find no artist listing under that name. The work came from the recently broken up estate of an Orange County, California very old Dutch family, from which I also acquired prints and drawings by well known Dutch artists including Marius Bauer and Louis Apol. Condition is excellent save for a small stained round area in a strategic crotch area of his pants! There is a tiny pinhole in the lapel but it is not noticeable. The glossy Dutch style black frame (not pictured) has some losses due to aging.
