Oil on paper, irregularly shaped, maximum dimensions approximately 10" by 16" and 2" wood frame, signed at lower left "S. CIEJKA". I do not see a listing for this name, which appears to be of Polish origin. The painting is in oil on paper. I think from the looks of it, a date around 1940 would not be out of line, but it is hard to tell. The colors remind me of that period, and it is obvious that the piece is not from the late 20th century. The backing board is later and says on it "Bainbridge Board"; there's something painted on that board by someone. The paper on which the actual art is drawn is a little cupped and there are faint moisture marks at top and right in the field, but the overall impression is a highly decorative, interesting, unusual work in good condition. The shape is certainly most unusual, and it appears to have been intentionally made in this shape. The frame is loose in the joints, to the point of falling apart.
