Lawrence Stephen Lowry (1887-1976) is one of England's most beloved modern artists, his body of work, generally executed in a distinctive naive style, focusing on (as Wikipedia listing says) "scenes of life in industrial districts of North West England and 20th century urban landscapes peopled with human figures referred to as 'matchstick men'". He was a generally shy and not especially sociable, humble man, who turned down a number of honors such as knighthood, by an appreciative nation. From humble beginnings, he achieved widespread recognition and enjoyed financial success in his lifetime. Today Lowry paintings have sold in the millions of dollars (one scene of Piccadilly Circus, London sold in 2011 for over $9 million), and these unprecedented prices have led to much higher auction prices for the prints as well in recent years. A major retrospective of his work opened in June 2013 at the Tate Britain. A museum of his works, "The Lowry", opened in Salford Quay in the year 2000. This **unframed** print, (despite photos showing it as framed) measures 20" by 22 1/2", and is pencil signed by the artist at lower right. Titled "Landscape with Farm Buildings", it was issued in the year 1974, in an edition of 850 examples, after a painting actually executed twenty years previously. The print is in excellent condition. See the net for much more on the artist and his distinctive and important contribution to modern British art. Shipping: rolled in a hard plastic tube.
