This is an original hand-colored, 19th century lithograph print by the iconic American ornithologist and naturalist artist JOHN J. AUDUBON, from the nineteenth century series in the small octavo size. Inside the present mat, dimensions are 6" by 10" (13 1/4" by 17 1/4" as framed). The title is "Clapper Rail or Salt Water Marsh Hen" and this is Plate number 310 in a long series of bird prints in the small octavo size. I have not examined this out of the frame but condition appears to be very good. On the reverse is a certificate dated 1994 stating this is a "second edition" made by the "planeography" process using the original lithographic stone, the print then colored by hand. Allow for reflections in the glass.
