This is a very finely executed watercolor on paper of a young woman in the clothing of the old country. I've opened this up and see that the work is on paper laid on a board, and it is not signed. The measurements inside the gold mat are 9 1/4" by 7 1/4" (17" by 13" in ornate old frame). I am sure, given the quality of the work (note the care lavished on the eyes and face, in particular), that the artist would be someone recognized and listed. There is an old circa 1930 Hobbs & Sutphen (Chicago) framers label on the reverse; until I opened it, I am quite sure that it had been sealed up for decades. At this point you would want to use acid-free materials, and you can retain the lovely old frame, which has just a bit of wear at upper right corner.
