Watercolor landscape of cattle in sunny pasture with emerald green spring trees providing a luminosity, 16" by 22", (21" by 27 1/2" framed), signed at lower right and signed again and titled on the reverse "New Oaks", by the listed California painter and former advertising art director ROSCOE CARVER (1896-1982). Carver was born in the state of Washington and was educated there and later attended the California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco under Rudolph Schaeffer. Later he studied with the great Armin Hansen in Monterey. A long career in advertising as art director for McCann Erickson followed. Carver exhibited into the 1960's, based then in Santa Barbara. This work likely dates to the later years I would judge. The artist has rubber stamped his name and Solvang (near Santa Barbara) address on the backing paper. The work is in excellent, fresh condition.
