A highly attractive, eye-catching contemporary lithograph for home or office, circa 1970's or 1980's, featuring black horses in profile in a very decorative design of white and bright pure yellow, 19 1/4" by 26 1/2" in side the mat, 27 1/2" by 34 1/2" framed, pencil signed at lower right and numbered LXI/CXXV (61/125), by the well-known and highly sought after French artist ANDRE BRASILIER (1929-). Brasilier is a familiar name to collectors in Europe, the United States, and Japan (especially popular in Japan). Paintings have exceeded $200,000 at auction recently. A catalogue raisonne of the lithographs includes no less than 239 separate titles. The artist was born into an artistic family, his father an artist. Brasilier attended the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in 1949 in the studio of Maurice Brianchon. From the early 1960's on, Brasilier achieved increasing recognition. He is known for a distinctive style which includes abstraction, expressionism, and a lyrical poetry all his own, with horses and nature filling the scenes. Often very bright, pure color such as yellow, green or blue, or pink is utilized to create very highly decorative, crisp images. This example is in excellent clean condition, behind Plexi for easy and safe shipping. Frame is undistinguished and tired.
