A large cow hide blanket, painted in the style of western Native America rock art or primitive Australian aboriginal art, including an abstracted human figure and geometric forms, origin probably Africa, extreme dimensions 72" by 64". The age is difficult to determine. This reminds so much of rock art sprinkled about arid parts of the American west, and Native American painted hide blankets, but I do not believe it to be of Native American or Australian origin. It has been folded for some time. Perhaps if stored rolled the fairly sharp creasing will relax. A very interesting and decorative ethnographic piece. Final photo shows the unpainted reverse side.
