Shaped leather stretched over an internal frame and tacked at the edges, painted on one side with an impressionist floral still life, unsigned. The work measures 31 1/2" by 35 1/2" in extreme dimensions (irregular shape). This appears to be a circa 1920's or 1930's fire screen, possibly used as a movie prop, as it bears the type of numbering on reverse often seen in movie props. Over almost a century, it has acquired a number of cuts and tears in the leather, and the corners are worn and ragged, as shown. It has been suggested that the central design could be cut and framed separately, as repair of the leather would be difficult or impossible.
