Watercolor on paper painting, each 9 1/2" by 7 1/2" (17 1/2" by 14 1/2" in shiny black inexpensive frame), signed in pencil at lower right by the California artist and fashion illustrator ESTHER WYNN, who passed away in 1990 according to recent information acquired from relatives. So far there is no askart listing for this artist but I imagine that will change. She was a talented illustrator, often, of vintage fashion design, and created designs for cards as well. A web search reveals other watercolor drawings, generally of figures. I have seen a number of her works in recent years (always in Southern California) and they generally focus on women's fashions and clothing, with a particular interest it seems in clothing of the 18th century. From the web I note that she exhibited in a 1955 exhibition of the California Art Club, which seems to confirm my suspicion that she was a California-based artist. This feminine work featuring a late 18th century lady who reminds o Marie Antoinette would make a fine addition to a lady's collection, and would look very fine in a dressing area or bedroom. Drawing is in excellent fresh condition. Frame has some wear and you might want to just replace it. See two other very similar drawings by Wynn in my Ruby Lane shop.
