**FOUR** identically framed early (1830) color aquatint engraving prints of classic English sporting art subject, the Grand Leicestershire Steeple Chase, 1829, printed by the noted R. Ackermann Jr. of Regent Street, London. The plates are from a series, though this is not a complete series; the group includes Plate 1, Plate 5, Plate 6, and Plate 7. They all measure 14" by 17 1/4" inside the framing (18 1/2" by 21 1/2" framed). They are antique prints nearly 200 years old, and as such they have acquired the faults the come to prints with advanced age---overall oxidation (brown toning) of the paper, darker brown stains, as from backing materials including old adhesives, foxing, and Plate 6 has a whitish substance at upper left corner that might relate to an old repair. More detailed photos happily provided upon request. The frames have significant wear as well. The hand coloring remains bright and not faded. Overall, these are in reasonable condition for display in your traditional setting. There are reflections in a few images (a light rectangle in sky at right for example is a reflection, in one of the images).
