A watercolor painting of unusual architecture (a white building with arch that looks almost Indian or Islamic) reflected on a wet pavement, two figures standing in center under that arch, 15" by 22 1/4", unframed (though it is matted, as found), signed at lower right by listed California artist ROBERT LANDRY (1921-1991). Landry was born in Washington, DC and studied art there and in Minneapolis. After serving in the Second World War, he was able to take advantage of the G.I. Bill. Soon after the war Landry began earning commercial art jobs, and by the 1950's was already painting fine art watercolors. He is best known in San Diego and also in Texas. Landry was an inspirational teacher in the medium and many present-day watercolor artists trace at least some of their skills to him. The watercolor could be rolled in a tube for more economical shipping.
