A copy of the hard cover book "Canyon Country", by author Julius F. Stone, published 1932 by G.P. Putnam's Sons. The book is signed by the author and inscribed "To Lorin C. Tarlton with all good wishers" 10/25/1945" on the inside front cover in ink. The book describes a 1909 journey down the Colorado River, tracing the famed 1869 trip by John Wesley Powell through the then very little-known region. Foreword by Henry Fairfield Osborn, the head of the American Museum of Natural History at the time. Good solid condition, pages and spine tight, some evidence of wear on covers, but pages very clean. No dust jacket. The book is apparently scarce. A great collectable reference on the famous river of the American Southwest. A google search turned up a Lorin Tarlton in San Marino, CA near Pasadena, where the book was found.
