A small circa 1960's or 1970's painting on canvasboard, 14" by 10", unframed, the subject a brown vase with yellow decoration set on a blue surface, a green grain-painted background setting off the orange-yellow flowers and two cattails. The work is signed at lower right I Y Dobrinsky. I do not currently believe this to be the work of a listed artist Isaac Dobrinsky (1891-1973), born in present-day Ukraine and active in Paris, painting in a highly impressionist style, mostly between 1920 and 1950. The present work stands on its own as a charming painting in the "naive" or "primitive" style as it is sometimes called. Condition is excellent, board has a very slight curve which would be made straight once framed.
