This is a large work of art in delicate condition, 26" by 54" and 3" wide frame, so, I am seeking a local (Southern California) buyer who can pick it up. The painting, of a tropical coast with palms, decorative boats, and numerous figures, is well painted in an impressionistic manner, and is signed "M. H. Liu" at lower right in red and dated there 1967. A search of this name has not produced any listings. The painting is equivalent in style and quality to works by Indonesian important artists like Sudjojono, paintings by whom bring thousands of dollars. But, this one will have to remain in the decorative category. The CONDITION is POOR, with old moisture having caused extensive areas of paint loss, especially at far left, bottom center, and lower right corner, and the stretcher is warped. If you're a restorer, and local, this work represents opportunity for you. I believe it, (or parts of it, roughly the right 70%), is worth saving.
