Oil on wood panel of a lady under a portico or trellis high above a coast like Amalfi in Italy, signed at lower right with initials "EC" and dated there "03". The work measures 12" by 7 1/2" (18" by 12 3/4" as framed). On the reverse of the panel is written in pencil old handwriting "E. W. Clawson 431 Pacific St.". It's possible that this could be the artist ("EC") but I can't be certain of that. I do think that a professional cleaning would be well worth the investment. It would really brighten this and bring out the colors and brushwork. A very nice impressionist oil by a talented hand.
