A 19th century highly detailed, fine gouache painting of a male figure, perhaps of nobility or of the court, measuring 10" by 6" and 15" by 11" in attractive closed-corner gold framing. The condition is exceptional (the apparent speckled look notwithstanding----see below). The "mat" is not linen or cloth, but, rather, some sort of board which has been scored with a sharp knife at angles which give the illusion of it being cut stone. ****I would recommend opening this and cleaning the inside of the glass which does have some light foxing spots that are just on the glass, and absolutely not on the work itself; the speckled appearance is due just to the condition of the inside of the glass. There is a very slight frame chip loss at center/lower right.
